Reinhardt Heuer, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Reinhardt Heuer, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Research Scientist, was awarded a Ford Foundation Early Admission Scholarship and entered the University of Wisconsin at age sixteen. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree (Medical Science). After working for two years, he moved to New York City where he completed his Masters Degree in Speech and Theater at Brooklyn College, while serving as a teaching assistant under the tutelage of Drs. Robert West and Oliver Bloodstein. He worked for five years as Speech-Language Pathologist at the Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey, building the speech pathology program from one to four therapists. He received an Office of Education Training Grant to the joint campus program in Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Oregon/University of Oregon Medical School. His experience in voice therapy began under the tutelage of Dr. Ralph Coleman and Robert Blakely. He received his Ph.D. in speech language pathology in 1970. He joined the faculty of Temple University where he taught many courses, developed the voice program and served on several doctoral committees. He joined the American Institute for Voice and Ear Research in 1990. He has written and co-authored numerous articles, book chapters, and has presented research papers at the American Speech and Hearing Association National Convention and at the Voice Foundation’s annual meeting. He has also lectured extensively, throughout the United States. He is currently Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Thomas Jefferson University and Adjunct Professor of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine.
